Consequently, it is a key indicator of the competitiveness of the American workforce. It is crucial to consider that stakeholders are concerned that the United States of is being left behind by other countries in producing a workforce that can survive and thrive in the changing global economy. The objective of the study is to determine the extent of algebra problems in the the American society. Consequently, the research will reveal the causes for the poor performance. Understanding the underlying causes will provide a significant opportunity to implement appropriate intervention measures. The second objective is to formulate corrective measures that will address the problem. The third objective is to produce information that can be used by policy makers in order to create effective policy measures to address the problem. A researcher can then conduct interviews and surveys. Surveys will provide an opportunity to evaluate any differencies and similiarties in diverse populations (Jansen, 2010). Phenomenology and field research are also appropriate. Phenomonolgy involves observing subjects in their natural setting. In addition, individual interviews will be conducted in an effort to develop a global understanding of the problem. Interviews and focus groups are effective in collecting accurate information because they provide an opportunity for the researcher to interact with the participant (Gill, Stewart, Treasure & Chadwick, 2008). The researcher will also make personal observations in learning institutions.
